Go Africa Festival 2019

The borough of Islington saw something special arrive to its community on Saturday 17th August 2019. The Go Africa Cultural Festival debuted an African community festival. Although organised by a British Gambian 70% of the traders were Ghanaian. During the day the musicians a mixture of Ghanaian drummers, commonwealth dancers,and Ethiopian singers, By night Mandinka instrumentalists and Kora players joined the procession later for the evening performance by an electric orchestra of musicians from South Africa to Eritrea curated by our community partner Savvas Panas CEO of The Pilion Trust a former dancer in his younger years.

“We host creative workshops, within a six months program. The workshops are where we mentor and develop creativity using traditional African arts and craft practices.”
